Moving Day!

Perhaps you’ve noticed. Maybe you haven’t. But either way, we are moving and shaking this week at Pompey Hollow Photo.

I’ve been pouring over articles on how to make my blogging better, more effective and just generally more fun. Article after article I read instructed me to move from wordpress.com and get my butt moving onto a more professional style and self-hosted blog. Thus begins my journey where everything about this business will be under construction. This makes me panic a little bit.

I’m ready though. I want to bite that bullet. I’m ready to tackle success and to not be afraid to make changes.

What were your biggest stumbling blocks as you started out on your business journey? Or haven’t you yet? Are you a super procrastinator like me?

If you’re just starting out in the blogging world, let me recommend the first of many tips and tricks I’ve been gathering on this journey. I really love reading the ideas offered by Jill Levenhagen over at Blog Chicka Blog. She’s a photographer/blogger/mom who is incredibly inspiring as I’ve been starting **slowly** to overhaul this mess I call my websites. Go check her out. You will be glad you did.Beginning Blogging

Zack and Brittany tie the Knot: Orlando, Florida

We spent a relaxing and much anticipated weekend in Orlando just before Thanksgiving. I was so excited to get away from my “real” job for the weekend for drinks and celebrating with our friends. I’ve known Zack since freshman year of college. He lived down the hall from me and was my go-to-guy whenever my roommate was being intolerable. He’s one of the most hardworking and loyal men I have ever met. We quickly became fast friends, and haven’t lost touch since we started our “big kid” lives….After college he moved to Florida where he’s been handling some top secret Disney magic ever since. Enter Brittany: Her contagious smile and consistent good attitude make her an ideal match for Zack. We have loved getting to know her and Zack never stops gushing about how awesome she is. Their eventual marriage was only a matter of time, and we couldn’t be happier!

DSC_0801aAside from all that, Brittany made the most incredibly BEAUTIFUL bride. I was able to spend some time with her the morning of the wedding as she and her bridesmaids prepared for the big day, she was calm, cool and collected, despite the threat of rain that afternoon.

the boys groomsmenThe boys on the other hand, were a little bit crazy as they got ready for their day. (But I wouldn’t have expected anything else from them.)

The Venue was absolutely beautiful, on a golf course not far from the Bride and Groom’s home. The staff was awesome too, carefully wiping down seats after the light rain went through. CeremonyDuring the ceremony the officiant read letters that Zack and Brittany wrote expressing their love for one another. Brittany says that Zack is the “Mickey to her Minnie.” Aww. Ceremony2The night ended with a sweet treat (who doesn’t love smores?) as we waved goodbye to the bride and groom with pretty pink glowsticks! Congratulations my friend, and may your happily ever after be the happiest tale in all the world. YUM

Jill and Brian

There is nothing better than hanging out with somebody you adore on their wedding day. Being chosen to be a special part of my buddy Brian’s wedding was such an incredible honor….(getting to take some photos in which he is wearing a t-shirt that I distinctly remember him buying during an impromptu mall trip when we were teenagers was just a bonus.) It was such a beautiful and perfect afternoon, and I couldn’t be happier to have been able to watch Brian marry the love of his life. Congratulations Brian and Jill, may you enjoy the most perfect happily-ever-after!

Haley and Clayton: December in Denver

You’ve never met a more beautiful and giving couple than Haley and Clayton! Not only are they a joy to work with, super easy to photograph, and so much fun, but they are some of the kindest and most genuine people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. In fact, I met them while they were both working for Urban Peak , a really cool non-profit organization in Denver that provides a full convergence of services for youth ages 15 through 24 experiencing homelessness or at imminent risk of becoming homeless. On top of all that, Haley and Clayton even dedicated the money from their dollar dance to be donated back to Urban Peak to help the youth they serve there. Amazing!

And it was a beautiful, snowy, true Colorado day we spent with Haley and Clayton. Our sunny morning morphed into the most romantic of snowy evenings! I’m so glad they chose to let me capture their day! Congratulations guys!

Flowers and Love

Flowers and Love

With so many weddings in my family happening in the next 12 months, we’ve got marriage on the brain here! It is so fun for me to go back through some of my clients’ photos to see which ones really make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I love LOVE!

Jessica and Timmy: Happy Trails

Meet Jess and Tim: laid-back, totally in love and they also happen to be a pair of our dearest friends! We are always so honored, humbled and excited when people we love ask us to shoot photos for the most important day of their lives. (Also a little stressed because we want their photos to be even more beautiful than normal!) I’m excited to announce that they are, indeed, more beautiful than normal and their day, despite a little rain, was romantic and perfect. Congratulations Jess & Timmy! We love you bunches!

watermarked fb cover sizeI had a really awesome time this week shooting some quick baby bump photos for Mike and Caterina. The weather did not cooperate with us for pretty park picutres, so we had to improvise and shoot at their home. However, with such a beautiful mommy-to-be it would have been impossible to get bad photos no matter what the weather! I’m so glad I got to meet you guys and I can’t wait to grab some shots of your growing family in the months to come!

Family Weddings make me weepy: Amanda and Josh

I admit it. I cried. Just when Amanda-cake appeared at the doorway with her parents on each arm. Ohmygosh was she a beautiful bride or what? The whole room was bathed in soft, pink uplights, the music was beautiful and Amanda looked STUNNING and so happy. Josh is a lucky, lucky man. The food was yummy, the dancing was hilarious, and spending time with family is simply priceless. Tons of love to you Amanda and Josh, and happily ever after!

Valentine’s Day Sweeties

At the last minute I received a call from Amy, although she originally planned to not have a photographer, she had changed her mind. Was there any way I was available? You bet! I booked a quick flight from Colorado and was there to capture every red, pink and heart covered moment of Amy and Jimi’s Valentine’s themed wedding. Congratulations guys!

Clair and Josh Tie the Knot: Guess where? Highland Forest

Delicious wine and beverage choices awaited guests, and a homemade sign pointed the way.

Highland Forest was a popular place for love this wedding season. We shot so many fall weddings in this beautiful spot. Clair, however, holds a special place in my heart because she’s family! I just loved the honor of being able to shoot her wedding photos and I am so pleased with they way they have turned out. I can’t wait for her to see them all! Her hubby Josh was the CUTEST groom of all time as he was literally dancing with excitement as she came walking down the aisle. Congratulations guys! We love you very, very much! Best wishes for your happily ever after!

Now that the holidays are behind us, and dashing around for work has started to fall into a nice routine, I have had some time to catch up on all the editing that was piling up. Christine and Tony’s autumn wedding at Highland Forest was so incredibly beautiful it took my breath away. I never get tired of taking photos at that location the view is just amazing!

Shannon and Mike: Highland Forest, Fabius NY

What started out as a rainy day in upstate NY led to a romantic afternoon with glimpses of sunlight. A sure sign that someone was smiling down on them from above!

Shannon wanted to make sure she got "the" kiss from this angle too! She wanted to be able to see her guests in the background. So cute.
