Perhaps you’ve noticed. Maybe you haven’t. But either way, we are moving and shaking this week at Pompey Hollow Photo.
I’ve been pouring over articles on how to make my blogging better, more effective and just generally more fun. Article after article I read instructed me to move from wordpress.com and get my butt moving onto a more professional style and self-hosted blog. Thus begins my journey where everything about this business will be under construction. This makes me panic a little bit.
I’m ready though. I want to bite that bullet. I’m ready to tackle success and to not be afraid to make changes.
What were your biggest stumbling blocks as you started out on your business journey? Or haven’t you yet? Are you a super procrastinator like me?
If you’re just starting out in the blogging world, let me recommend the first of many tips and tricks I’ve been gathering on this journey. I really love reading the ideas offered by Jill Levenhagen over at Blog Chicka Blog. She’s a photographer/blogger/mom who is incredibly inspiring as I’ve been starting **slowly** to overhaul this mess I call my websites. Go check her out. You will be glad you did.
We spent a relaxing and much anticipated weekend in Orlando just before Thanksgiving. I was so excited to get away from my “real” job for the weekend for drinks and celebrating with our friends. I’ve known Zack since freshman year of college. He lived down the hall from me and was my go-to-guy whenever my roommate was being intolerable. He’s one of the most hardworking and loyal men I have ever met. We quickly became fast friends, and haven’t lost touch since we started our “big kid” lives….After college he moved to Florida where he’s been handling some top secret Disney magic ever since. Enter Brittany: Her contagious smile and consistent good attitude make her an ideal match for Zack. We have loved getting to know her and Zack never stops gushing about how awesome she is. Their eventual marriage was only a matter of time, and we couldn’t be happier!
Aside from all that, Brittany made the most incredibly BEAUTIFUL bride. I was able to spend some time with her the morning of the wedding as she and her bridesmaids prepared for the big day, she was calm, cool and collected, despite the threat of rain that afternoon.
The boys on the other hand, were a little bit crazy as they got ready for their day. (But I wouldn’t have expected anything else from them.)
The Venue was absolutely beautiful, on a golf course not far from the Bride and Groom’s home. The staff was awesome too, carefully wiping down seats after the light rain went through. During the ceremony the officiant read letters that Zack and Brittany wrote expressing their love for one another. Brittany says that Zack is the “Mickey to her Minnie.” Aww. The night ended with a sweet treat (who doesn’t love smores?) as we waved goodbye to the bride and groom with pretty pink glowsticks! Congratulations my friend, and may your happily ever after be the happiest tale in all the world.
We’ve been having a blast catching up with some old clients and shooting family portraits this fall. We also have a few new clients under our belt as well! I love the fall colors and the crisp air. What are your favorite things about fall?
There is nothing better than hanging out with somebody you adore on their wedding day. Being chosen to be a special part of my buddy Brian’s wedding was such an incredible honor….(getting to take some photos in which he is wearing a t-shirt that I distinctly remember him buying during an impromptu mall trip when we were teenagers was just a bonus.) It was such a beautiful and perfect afternoon, and I couldn’t be happier to have been able to watch Brian marry the love of his life. Congratulations Brian and Jill, may you enjoy the most perfect happily-ever-after!
You’ve never met a more beautiful and giving couple than Haley and Clayton! Not only are they a joy to work with, super easy to photograph, and so much fun, but they are some of the kindest and most genuine people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. In fact, I met them while they were both working for Urban Peak , a really cool non-profit organization in Denver that provides a full convergence of services for youth ages 15 through 24 experiencing homelessness or at imminent risk of becoming homeless. On top of all that, Haley and Clayton even dedicated the money from their dollar dance to be donated back to Urban Peak to help the youth they serve there. Amazing!
And it was a beautiful, snowy, true Colorado day we spent with Haley and Clayton. Our sunny morning morphed into the most romantic of snowy evenings! I’m so glad they chose to let me capture their day! Congratulations guys!
With so many weddings in my family happening in the next 12 months, we’ve got marriage on the brain here! It is so fun for me to go back through some of my clients’ photos to see which ones really make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I love LOVE!
